Windows Phone Outpaces Blackberry- But Should It

In an article titled: Windows Phone Overtakes BlackBerry in Smartphone Shipments, Not That It Matters.
According to new research from IDC, Microsoft’s mobile operating system accounted for 3.2 percent of global smartphone shipments in the first quarter. That’s a significant gain from the OS’s performance in the first quarter of 2012, which saw it capture a market share of 2 percent. And it was enough for Windows Phone to unseat BlackBerry from its third-place spot and claim the rank for its own.

That is a significant gain and I have to wonder what Research In Motion has up their sleeves.
There is a catch, a hook to all things Blackberry that I have been suggesting to customers for years, @blackberry.com.
That simple email suffix means security. It is the reason big business has used BlackBerry and why Muslim and authoritarian governments ban them, encrypted, safe and secure email. Oppressive governments hate open and secure communications between citizens that the government can not intercept, read and censor.
Corporate espionage is always a problem especially when the economy is bad, everyone is trying to gain a leg up and get inside information on the competition. Information is everything, and keeping your information safe is paramount.
So while the Windows phone maybe a nifty gadget and it does have it’s uses and serve a purpose, it will never be a suitable replacement for the BlackBerry.

Given the current state of the world, and the resent revelations about our own governments intrusions into your privacy, it is still my opinion that BlackBerry offers the best security for the money.
