Another quick tip that is not Tech related but very helpful.

Fruit flies are annoying and must die!
Here is the easy home remedy for fruit flies.
No poisons and no harmful chemicals, no sprays and no odor.

Follow up:

Use an open top container,
Dixie cup, plastic party cup, just any kind of disposable wide mouth open top
container.
(something you can throw away)

Find a place where the cup will not be disturbed.
Then place equal parts Vinegar and fruit juice in the cup.
(the mixture should equal about 1/4 cup)
Add three (3) drops of dishwashing soap to the mixture.

Place the cup in the spot you have chosen. Your spot should be at or near where you have seen the nasty little things swarming.
The fruit juice and vinegar attract them,
the dishwashing soap kills them very fast when they drink it. And drink it they will.
