The process for adjusting the carriage to media distance is explained in Chapter 5 of the service manual.

Chapter 5 Calibrations.

Adjusting the Carriage to Media distance requires that you have the gauge that was supplied with a new carriage assembly. If you do not have this gauge you may not be able to get one, they were never sold as a separate item.

Adjusting the distance is important if the carriage is too high you will get unwanted spray around the ink dots, or over spray and your vertical lines will not be straight. If the carriage is too low you will get you will get ink smears or even have the carriage scrape the paper.

This adjustment may be required:
After the carriage has been replaced.
After reinstalling the carriage due to belt or encoder strip replacement.
Or any other reason the carriage may have been removed from the plotter.

Double printing or offset printing on DesignJet 500 and
DesignJet 800 Plotter models.

With the DesignJet 500 and 800 plotter models occasionally you will get printing that appears to be ghosting otherwise known as off set or double printing of lines and text. This offset printing usually has a few causes. Worn or damaged carriage belt, dirt or debris in the carriage drive motor gear teeth, improperly seated trailing cable or damaged, dirty or malfunctioning drive roller encoder sensor or drive roller encoder.

Memory for the DesignJet 1050C / 1055 CM is not interchangeable with 1050C Plus / 1055 CM Plus and vice versa

The message Error Memory Config: 10 , or Error Memory Config: 2 is displayed on the printer's front panel display.

SOLUTION:
Follow the steps below.Error Memory Config: 10 (memory not present or recognized)

1. 1. Turn the printer off and unplug the power cable from the printer.
2. 2. Open the firmware/memory access panel located on the back of the printer.
3. 3. Remove and re-install all memory DIMM's (middle and right-most slot).
4. 4. Close the access panel and plug the power cord back into the printer
5. 5. Turn the printer on and verify functionality.
6. 6. If the problem persists, replace the memory DIMM(s) as needed.
